Houston Road Trip

Posted by KirkBhoy On October - 30 - 2007

Kirkbhoy said - Anyone interested in taking the bus trip down to Houston? Its cheap. Take a couple hours off of school or work. Not like you get that much done on a Friday afternoon anyway. Should know by tomorrow morning if I’ll be taking my own advice.

Walterb said - We apologize for the lack of updates this week.  I suppose that all of us normal posters needed a short reprise following the game on Saturday (sweet victory).  Read the comments to this thread and let’s get this thing going.  We need a strong showing in Houston from all Hoops fans and from Los Toros!  This site continues to see good activity (up to 53 users; email list is much stronger) but we have to keep the energy high if we are going to continue to grow member by member.  Will you join the club in Houston?  What if your place in the stands amongst the rest of the Hoops supporters is what tips the scales to bring the Western Conference Championship to PHP?  Would it be worth skipping out of work early?

Challenge #5: Let’s get our songs/chants together!

Posted by stevetoro On October - 25 - 2007

Hey, it’s time to finalize our “playlist” for Saturday’s game. We’re going to be passing out songbooks that have a lot of the FCD songs (and some of the new ones that you’ve written) at the game, but we want to make sure that everybody’s favorite chants and songs are represented — and the ones people don’t like are forgotten.

Be sure to post your faves to the comments below. I’ll gather them up in time for the game.

We’re going to spend some time practicing at the tailgate, so we’d love for you to come out and have your voice be heard. (As Martin from the Legends Crew says: “There’s nothing in the world like supporting your team with a bunch of good people and a brew in your hand.” I think truer words have never been spoken.

Lest we forget…

This (see 0:12) is why we’re not Houston fans…

Playoff Tailgate #1: Location, location, location

Posted by stevetoro On October - 25 - 2007

Ticket Update: Sales Guy says that we have about 70 people confirmed for the group!  Stand in the section, join the tailgate!

Since kirkbhoy doesn’t like hanging out by a dumpster — and since we’re interested in picking up more Toros as they walk into the stadium — we’ve decided to move the Los Toros Tailgate to the West Parking Lot starting at 5:30 pm(ish). We’re going to be meeting up, practicing our chants, picking out our favorite songs, and piling up our supplies of confetti, streamers, and the like.

Watch this space for more details about what to bring, but for now, here’s one of stevetoro’s patented (often wrong, but never in doubt) maps.

You’re doing it wrong

Hopefully, our Toros will have better precision on the field on Saturday. Did you get your tickets yet?

Public Opinion Poll #1: What this group needs is… More Cowbell!

Posted by stevetoro On October - 24 - 2007

Stevietoro here.  Will post an update on our plans for Saturday’s game later tonight, but wanted to get your reaction…

Since we can’t use drums in Section 126, what do you think of using cowbells in order to coordinate cheers (and just generally make some noise?  (I know some of us have them already.)
