Challenge #3: Spread the Word
Mis toros,
Looks like Saturday, 27 October is D-Day.
Third Degree reports:
With only one game left in the regular season, against Kansas City, FC Dallas is locked into 3rd place in the Western Conference. While there are several scenarios out there that could influence the playoff picture, our sources say FCD is moving ahead with plans to host their opening game of the 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs on Saturday, October 27th a Pizza Hut Park.
This brings us to Challenge #3. Let’s get the word out about Los Toros. We’ve got about 80-90 people signed up on our mailing list — but it’s time now to start thinking more concretely about getting as many people to stand with us as possible on gameday.
I hate mass-mails as much as the next guy, but it’s time to start working our networks to see if we can get as many people out for this first game as we possibly can.
We really want to be inclusive — and that means we’ve gotta contact people from local soccer groups, people from local soccer supporter associations, people who play futsol on the weekends, people who drink at the Londoner, Mark Cuban, Marcelo Saragosa, Marcelo Saragosa’s best friend, etc. I’d really like to try to get the casual DFW sports fans involved too — I’m sure you all know some folks who root for the Cowboys, Stars, or Mavs who would jump at the chance to be a part of a passionate (if not rowdy) play-off atmosphere.
I could be really wrong, but I don’t think we should be looking for long-term commitments from people. Just a willingness to come out and have fun — and have front-row seats to a long run in the MLS Cup.
The Front Office really came through with a great ticket deal for us — $18 seats are too good to pass up for play-off seats.
Notes:
- If you need/want/covet a Los-Toros email account, let me know and I’ll get you set-up with one. Impress your friends, neighbors, and fellow Hoops fans. (Or not.)
- We’re looking for volunteers who would be willing to help coordinate a tailgate for the 10/20 Wiz game. Let Kirk or Walt know if you’re willing to help out. (More details on the tailgate to come this week.)
- Tickets? We need tickets! You need tickets. Your friends need tickets. Go here for now — we’ll find out from the FO if there’s a better way to get your ducats soon.
