Merry Christmas

Posted by KirkBhoy On December - 24 - 2007

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from those of us too lazy to post frequently at los-toros.com. Most of you already saw this nice picture on the FCD Blog but I thought I’d re-post here since they chose the Los Toros table to showcase (probably more due to Maya and Natalia’s huge smiles than myself, but I’ll pretend they thought the entire table was quite festive).

Supporters Holiday Party

Take care and be joyful, we’ll need you to save up that anger till late March,

Stopping Penalties — Blindfolded!

Sala is great. Burse, too. But can they stop penalties blindfolded?

(Yes, if they are set up like this with a transparent blindfold…)

Supporter’s Party - Part 2

Posted by walterb On December - 10 - 2007

Date: December 17th at the Verizon Wireless Club (PHP)

Time: 7pm

Who: FCD Supporter’s Groups, Hitch, Coaches

We received an invite from the FO to attend a bit of a gathering.  They are providing pizza and drinks.  We have reservations for 15 so first preference will be given to those who are currently signed up for 2008 Season Tickets.  If you do not have your season seats yet - or can’t get them - we will try to fit you in if there is room.  Maybe we will get some let over giveaways from the season???

Email your reservation to Matthew Harber at mharber@fcdallas.com and he’ll forward it to the powers that be.

Zurawski to Galaxy

  • “There is a rumor that LA are trying to sign Zuraski from Celtic. Zuraski is a Polish international, but he’s seen more time on the bench lately making him a little easier to lure away.”
  • Nathan wrote the comment above earlier today.  Los Toros sources in the area of LA are confirming that this is a done deal.  Our confirmation comes through a friend who knows a guy who apparently is close enough to the situation to know.  (Is that enough to get me off the hook if I am wrong?)

What do you think of this move?  Is the LA Polish community going to occupy the remaining 3,000 seats (based on average attendance) at the HDC?

Also, this intrigues me for another reason.  Birds have been whisperings the potential of a three team trade between LA, Dallas, and SJ that would see Ruiz back with the Gals and Donovan return to the Quakes.  From what I have heard from several non-Dallas sources there was a variety of potential compensation coming to Dallas, most of which emphasized allocation money.  Does the seemingly certain addition of Zurawski void the need for Ruiz?

An even bigger muse is what does LA expect to gain from letting go of Donovan…if they eventually pursue this?  It has to be for nothing less than a DP slot.  What will to use the other DP slot for? Zidane? Ronaldo? This could get interesting!

    USA beats Brazil…

at the u-17 level.  This is quite the accomplishment.   It was six years since the last US u-17 victory over Brazil.  Combined with the u-20 victory over Brazil in the recent u-20 World Cup you could easily see how upset the Brazilians were with the loss (They were coming off a 7-2 victory over Turkey a couple of days ago).  The ref was a bit spotty but that is soccer.  We finished our chances and they did not.  Two Brazilians were shown the red card….one was ejected after spitting on a US player.  I’d be ashamed of the complete lack of class and sportsmanship if I was Brazilian…since I am not I will try to remember to ask a certain Brazilian co-worker why the young Brazilians seem to have established a trend of losing to the US.  Read all about it here: http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_4259840.html  Also, I recommend checking out the goals from both this game and the win earlier in the week versus Russia.
