USA beats Brazil…
at the u-17 level. This is quite the accomplishment. It was six years since the last US u-17 victory over Brazil. Combined with the u-20 victory over Brazil in the recent u-20 World Cup you could easily see how upset the Brazilians were with the loss (They were coming off a 7-2 victory over Turkey a couple of days ago). The ref was a bit spotty but that is soccer. We finished our chances and they did not. Two Brazilians were shown the red card….one was ejected after spitting on a US player. I’d be ashamed of the complete lack of class and sportsmanship if I was Brazilian…since I am not I will try to remember to ask a certain Brazilian co-worker why the young Brazilians seem to have established a trend of losing to the US. Read all about it here: http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_4259840.html Also, I recommend checking out the goals from both this game and the win earlier in the week versus Russia.

One Response to “USA beats Brazil…”

Don’t typically watch the young guys, but I just happened to catch the first half. Good display by the US, but the first goal for the US appeared to come somewhat against the run of play. Brazil was pretty unlucky not to score - their midfield was causing a lot of problems and I just love the way they overlap their full backs. Some good play by our center half and gk saved our bacon several times. From my perspective it was simply a case of the US capitalizing on their few chances and Brazil continually flunking theirs. If Brazil’s finishing had been better, the scoreline could have been pretty different at the end of the 1st half. I missed the second half which appears to have been fairly dramatic.
