Zurawski to Galaxy
By Nathan on Dec 10, 2007 |
Nathan wrote the comment above earlier today. Los Toros sources in the area of LA are confirming that this is a done deal. Our confirmation comes through a friend who knows a guy who apparently is close enough to the situation to know. (Is that enough to get me off the hook if I am wrong?)
What do you think of this move? Is the LA Polish community going to occupy the remaining 3,000 seats (based on average attendance) at the HDC?
Also, this intrigues me for another reason. Birds have been whisperings the potential of a three team trade between LA, Dallas, and SJ that would see Ruiz back with the Gals and Donovan return to the Quakes. From what I have heard from several non-Dallas sources there was a variety of potential compensation coming to Dallas, most of which emphasized allocation money. Does the seemingly certain addition of Zurawski void the need for Ruiz?
An even bigger muse is what does LA expect to gain from letting go of Donovan…if they eventually pursue this? It has to be for nothing less than a DP slot. What will to use the other DP slot for? Zidane? Ronaldo? This could get interesting!

“Magic” Zurawski hasn’t really been at his best since his 1st season as a Celt. I think he’s still gone something left, but he won’t get the playing time in Glasgow to regain his form. He’s quite capable of being a natural goalscorer and I wish him the best.

Well.. I don’t know about the three team trade.. but I’m pretty sure that Landycakes is done at LA. Both Alexi and Landon have been caught swinging their purses at each other in public. Last week I heard through a friend that Donovan told Lalas that he had the greasiest mop of hair he’d ever seen, to which Lalas retorted “at least I still have hair”.

I am still curious about how the situation with Ruiz may play against Zurawski. If you’ve checked our recommended daily blogs there are several trade rumors out today and they all involve Ruiz going to LA…in fact, that is the only unchanged variable in all the proposals.

Well.. I can’t think of many LA players that we might be interested in. I can’t say that I’m highly impressed with any of them.. Albright might be interesting to us, but other than that, I can only assume that allocation money would be the return.
In more disturbing news, I read yesterday that Bruce Arena is trying to get infront of the SFA to get his name considered for the Scotland job. Hopefully the SFA doesn’t become desperate enough to consider that.. personally I’m pinning my hopes on Mark McGhee.

From my reading of all the trade possibilities it seems like Dallas is not finding satisfaction in the offers. I can’t imagine that our FCD was happy with Boswell plus cash for Ruiz to LA. If that is the offer go ahead and do Albright and cash. I do not think LA is going to be willing to give up any allocation money, however, as they will need it for players like Ruiz or Zurawski…to knock their numbers down and minimize the cap hit. The allocation will seemingly have to come from another team if something plays out.
