The FCD Front Office announced today that the three wisemen — LandyCakes, Pescadito, and “El Guapo” himself, David Beckham — will be disgracing us with their presence at the Hut on March 30 in what’s being billed as the “The FC Dallas Foundation Charity Game”. 

Personally, I’d like to think of it as the 8 month commemoration of last year’s 11-goal SuperLiga game, in which FCD was down 4-nil by the 20 minute mark.  Whether it was or not, I’ll always feel that that game was the psychic turning point for the 2007 season.  I’m ready for an exorcism of that night, personally — and for a little heckling of Beckie-boy.

Details from the FO:

Fans who bought tickets through the team’s front office or through any Ticketmaster outlet for the July 31, 2007 SuperLiga game between the two teams have the opportunity to reserve the same number of tickets in the same seating area for the March 15 contest. Further instructions for these fans to claim their seats will be sent through email and regular mail over the next week.

A limited number of tickets for this game are available to the general public through a special three-game package, available only through the front office 888-FCD-GOAL (888-323-4625).

I guess Derby County midfielder (and Jason Statham of “The Transporter” fame look-alike) Bob Malcolm is a really a sensitive guy.

Ex-Ranger Bob was recently arrested for parking his car in the middle lane of the M1 in order to take a little nap. His reason? Worn-out from the Rams’ string of stellar performances this year? (Nah.) Worried about Benny’s lack of playing time? (No, he’s more than likely not an “Yanks Abroad” fanboy.) Trying to get his drink on (yes…) before the DCFC’s new American owners lowering the Rams’ players per diem? (No, Tom Hicks isn’t trying to do for Derby what he did for the Texas Rangers and what he’s doing for Liverpool.)

Here’s why:

Malcolm said: “I want to apologise to all the supporters and in particular the young fans.

“But I must say that I was very upset and frustrated with the poor performance of the referee in our match at Plymouth the evening before.”

Oh, Bob… It’s really all about the football, isn’t it?

Asian News International reported today that a new brand of condoms named after David Beckham is taking the Chinese prophylactic market by storm.

Although the Beckham contraceptive is not being endorsed by the former England captain himself, its makers claim that the users will score in the bedroom like David does on the pitch. This brand now sells more than any other brand in the country.

I can see the sales pitch now.  Buy a box of Beckhams! You’re guaranteed to look good and get lots of attention, but sadly, you’ll be too sore to score!

Mexico hosts FINLAND at the Hut on March 6 at 7 pm. Interested in going out and supporting Sami Hyypiä or GK extraordinaire (and person voted “most in need of a consonant (or two)” Jussi Jääskeläinen or Shefki “Chocolate Chip” Kuqi? Anyone? Anyone? Sjölund? Frankly, I think it’d be a hoot just to sing the old Monty Python standard that I’ve linked here…
