Bob Malcolm in action (No, not that kind of action!)

Okay, time to do some positive Bobby Malcolm spin — just in case he comes to Dallas.

No, this isn’t a video of him gesturing somewhat inappropriately at Celtic Park; no, it’s not video of him signing “FTP” on a supporters’ shirt (see Wikipedia if you really want to know what it means) — it’s actually him scoring a goal in a Coca-Cola Championship game.

So, what do we know about the Bobster?

– He’s a center back / holding mid.

– He played 88 times for Rangers before being released.

– He’s probably banned from English football for somewhere between 15-20 months due to his recent drunk driving incident.

– He’s a tremendous Rangers fan. According to Wikipedia, after being released, he bought a season ticket to Ibrox because “the club means so much to him he felt that he will never truly be able to say goodbye.”

So, what do you think of Malcolm’s potential move to FCD? Think he’ll be able to wear the Hoops with pride?

Imagine my horror when I read:

Former Ranger Bob Malcolm has been offered a fresh start with MLS club Dallas FC. Malcolm, 27, has been linked with Motherwell after being freed by Derby.

Wow.  “Sleepy” Bob Malcolm a member of FC Dallas?  Will he join us at Lochrann’s for a pint?  Wax poetic about the Old Firm games he was a part of?  Maybe he’d even drive us home after the games…
