Bayern Munich is hurting. Oliver Kahn, the long-serving keeper of Die Roten (that’s the Reds for you non-linguists) is sick with the sniffles. Not the end of the world, right? This is precisely what backups are for — and Munich has the more than capable 23 year-old Michael Rensing as Ollie’s stand-in. Right? Right?
Wrong. From Yahoo! Sports:
Michael Rensing, Kahn’s deputy, is doubtful for the round of 32 game after injuring his back while bending to tie his shoelaces.
“A couple of days ago Michael hurt his back while tying his shoes,” coach Ottmar Hitzfeld told reporters with the Bayern team. “I’m confident he’ll be able to play, though. In an emergency we’ll find someone to tie his laces for him.”
Wow. Designated shoe-tier. Woot.
