Viva Real SMU!

Posted by stevetoro On January - 22 - 2009

As we John Elligner brings just another former denizen of the Wasatch Range down to Frisco, it occurred to some of us here at Los Toros central that our MLS side might just be angling for another name change.

In 2005, we said goodbye to the Burn.

In 2009, do we say hello to Real SMU?  Maybe, just maybe.

Our sources have revealed what might just be the latest in a long line of logos worn by the hypocoristically challenged Burn/Hoops/Red Stripes/Toros/FCD:

Reporting Fail

In honor of Dominic Oduro (and his imminent departure)  here are the top 10 headlines FCD could have used in place of this one:

  1. The Birdman Gives Red Bull NY Some Wings
  2. Dominic Oduro:  Underpaid and Deserving of a Chance
  3. Oduro joins Osorio, Osorno eyes return to MLS
  4. Oduro Traded: Who in the hell will play up top if Kenny goes to Rosenborg?
  5. Steve Hunt:  “Guess I should have written about Marcelo’s green card instead.”
  6. Yet another MF:  Schellas Unveils New 4-6-0 formation
  7. Hitch Ships Oduro to RBNY, Cites “All players must have a full head of hair” Policy
  8. Jamie Watson:  Your first striker off the bench
  9. Oduro:  Because we couldn’t get rid of Dax McCarty
  10. Oh, hell — there’s no way he was going to start in ‘09 anyway…

So, Dominic, before we bid each other Da yaee (”farewell”), I leave you with this timeless saying in your native Fanti language, which kindly sums up how I feel about Hitch right about now (regardless of how good Dave Van den Bergh may be)…

N’ano ekyi nsu taka egu sundze nodo nyinara.
He has slobbered all over the pillow.

Goodnight, Birdman! Long may you fly — but never in Frisco.

Denilson Re-surfaces

Apparently Bolton are going to give him a trial, after he was released from Palmeiras.

Hmm… well, I’m not sure if they’re releasing him because he failed to meet expectations there either or if he wanted too much money.  Perhaps a combination of both.. but still I would like to see this guy regain some of his former glory.

You’d think the post below about El Pescadito would merit at least a PG-13 rating.  Not so much.

Maybe if Dax gets traded I’ll start droppin’ some verbal bombs that’ll push us up to a Big Lewboski Lebowski appropriate rating.
