Just found this little tidbit:
So, the dishonor of having the worst MLS attendance for 2008 actually goes to FC Dallas. Despite having its own soccer specific stadium with a capacity of 20,500, Dallas only averaged 13,097 throughout the 2008 season.
So, what do you think would increase attendance at FC Dallas games? More giveaways? More presence in the community? Credit card machines that work at halftime? Cheaper beer? Fewer summer afternoon games? Consistency on the pitch? A marquee DP?
How about all of the above?
Yeah.. I read that too. Sad eh?
All of the above help to some extent or other.. The Marquee DP and it has to be “Marquee”, not washed up leftover from the EPL will get the most people in the door.. that and location (although there isn’t much that can be done about that).
Nobody is going to show up for a freebie, cheap beer or efficient concessions (those are expected things that keep some from returning).. to truly keep them coming back you deliver consistency, fight and heart on the field.
lasts in attendances, firsts in our hearts!
Its sad to say but most fans arent true fans. The best thing to do to get fans in the stadium is have the team win games. Most people wont come out and support a losing team but once they start winning games then magically everyone is a fan.
Move the team out of Frisco and closer to Dallas.
If I lived anywhere near Frisco, I’d try to make every game. What stinks is that they are hardly ever on tv and I hate sitting at the comp to watch on the small screen.
Last weeks games at Dallas Cowboys Stadium proves that if you move the games back to the hispanics area, they will come out to the games. When you have over 80,000 show up to set an attendance record, that should tell you about the base that was abandoned with the move to Frisco! So, what do you want, people in the seats that are passionate about the game, or the glitz and glamour?
