yeah, yeah, yeah. you were the one that told me I had to be at the Chivas game. Pick your priorities.

I'll try to post something that includes tonight's game.

The only problem with these interviews is that you're never going to get the dirt that you're looking for.. like your question for instance.

Thanks for posting it though!

As far as Ellinger is concerned, I have some optimism. The NFL has a long storied history of head coaches that are total busts turning out to be world-class coordinators. Soccer is a simpler game by far, but as an assistant his job will be more player development and evaluation and less game-to-game tactics. Who knows why he lost so many games at RSL (other than the expansion), but he keeps getting hired left and right, so there's got to be something about the guy.

Guess I'm in a glass half-full mood.

I agree that it's too early to put Hyndman in the dog house... everyone does deserve a chance, even though Morrow didn't necessarily get a proper go at it. (Although I'm still bitter about that, I hope that Steve has moved on).

Personally I'm highly skeptical of the choice of Hyndman.. too much cronyism in that selection for my liking.. and why he would pick Ellinger as his assitant is beyond me.. I suppose that decision alone has me the most worried... out of the 70 or so games Ellinger coached at RSL, he probably won less than a third. If assistant coaches truly assist then this might be a case of blind leading the blind.

OK. I will now take a happy pill and psych myself up for the Dynamo game.

This team has the talent and ability to beat these guys.. they just need to keep the mental and physical toughness.. After seeing Schellas Kung Fu video, maybe he can teach them something. That's exactly the kind of thing you need to bring to the table to beat the Dynapoo.

Nathan, I've never been impressed by how much possession a team gets when they're down 2 goals. Also, this team has proven it has a huge gap in its play between at home and on the road. That's the kind of thing that takes months for a manager to fix.

We played like crap, no doubt. My point was that I've seen waaaaayy too much blame heaped on Hyndman after just one game in which I really don't think he had an effect.

After a dominating display in the second half display against NE and an encouraging turnout against Chicago.. and then having watched some of NYRB's recent performances I have to say that I was just a bit miffed by the result.
Right now I actually rate NYRB as probably the worst team in the league - Angel and Reyna have both become washed up injury magnets, Josie and the Pussycats is gone and the rest of them bar Van Der Valk are just pure gash.. (well Freeman is ok I suppose) but despite all that, never at any point in that match did we look like winning... and as for the choice of subs.. what? huh?.. and huh? again. Some also seemed to have strayed back into the land of mediocre..

NYRB played pretty crap too, but they did play with a lot more conviction.

The only consolation for our guys that I will offer is that I think the ref lost his yellow card in the 5th minute, then must have found it stuck to Pitchkolan's shoe in the 62nd and then promptly lost it again about 10 mins later.
